On the Ride Home, a Stop in Delaware

16 Mile Brewing Co. is a good place to stop on your way to and from the New Jersey Cape.

16 Mile Brewery, Georgetown, Delaware, USA. Visited on March 24, 2013.

Pictured here is a man with a case of beer on his birthday. He is on his way home after a weekend in Cape May, where he spent the weekend with his love.

This is how he looks when he is happy. What you see here is a form of homily, delivered by a substitute member of the clergy. A disobedient bratty artist sketching god. Salivating. Yawping. Displaying awareness that this is illusion, delusion, both.

He has had lots of good times. He has spent lots of time in the company of people whose company he enjoyed. What happened is he grew older, and the spirit that never stopped calling him came from a different direction. Like a bird perched patiently on a branch until one day it’s struck by lightning.

Why is it so hard to smile?
