The Word for “Made-Up” Time

The National Watch and Clock Museum, Columbia, Pennsylvania, USA. Visited December 29, 2018.

I never gave much thought to the word passage.

Or the way timepieces are time-pieces.

I learn the word intercalation—the insertion of time, the time that’s “made-up” after the natural shortfall of time in a calendar year.

I write a poem:

Counting sunrises brings me to joy
no sooner than counting sunsets.
